How To Prepare For A Tattoo

Getting a tattoo is an exciting process for anyone, however if you do not prepare properly, they can be an uncomfortable experience. In this blog we will be giving you some tips on how to prepare for a tattoo.

Second 2 None Tattoos are a tattoo parlour located in Rotherham and are able to create high standards of artwork.

Stay Out The Sun

One of the main things you need to is stay out of the sun in the coming days before you have your tattoo. Having one done on sun burnt or damaged skin can be extremely painful. Even if you can deal with the pain, after you have finished your ink will not heal properly and may look distorted.

A great way to make sure your skin is not damaged before your procedure is by drinking lots of water and keeping your body hydrated. Hydrated skin is known to heal better and will be able to endure longer sessions for your more detailed art. For the best results during the sitting stay away from drinks with caffeine in them as this can also have negative effects on your skin.

Stay Away From The Drink

A lot of people turn up to tattoo sessions drunk. This is something our team definitely don’t advise on doing. Alcohol consumption is known to thin the blood in your body, this can create multiple problems whilst having your ink done including a larger risk of infection. If you turn up to a parlour whilst under the influence you aren’t going to have a clear head which could persuade you to have a design that you regret the following day. We have all seen the disasters of “drunk tattoos” so don’t be one of them.

If you go out the night before and arrive at your session hungover you aren’t going to have a pleasant time. A large piece can take several hours to complete, this is a long time to wait for someone who is feeling delicate and sick. It may also make it difficult for the designer to perform to the best of their abilities as you will be in no mood to talk them about which design you want and the detail of it.

Prepare For A Tattoo By Researching

It’s not enough to go into a session with just the thought of “I fancy a tattoo”, to make the most of your ink and have a design that you will love for years to come you need to do your research. Browse loads of designs on the internet and find the type of design you like, if you would like to add anything to it make sure you do a rough sketch or get an artist to draw it for you.

Once you have found the design you are looking for, start looking for artist. Various artist are specialised in drawing different things, meaning you need to find someone who has experience working on a similar design. This is as simple as finding a local tattooist’s social media page and browsing through their best work. The more research you do, the better your ink is going to look.
